The minimum rental period is 24 hours. A grace period of 1 hour is permitted for returns. For delays exceeding 1 hour, the Renter will be charged the cost of an additional rental day.
It is strictly forbidden to load the vehicle onto a ship or transport it outside the island of Crete, unless explicit written consent has been provided by the Lessor.
In accordance with Greek Law (N. 489/76), all vehicles are provided with mandatory Third-Party Liability Insurance.
The Basic Coverage is included free of charge and limits the Renter’s financial liability for damage to the rented vehicle to a specific Excess Amount.
The Renter may choose the Full Coverage option for a daily fee. With this option, the Renter’s liability for damages to the car body is reduced to €0 (Zero Excess).
Regardless of the chosen coverage, the Renter is fully responsible for, and coverage DOES NOT apply to, damages caused to: the undercarriage of the vehicle, by driving off-road, by violating the Greek Traffic Law (K.O.K.), by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, by an unauthorized driver, or by loss of keys/incorrect fuel type.
The vehicle must be returned in a reasonably acceptable state of cleanliness, both inside and out. In the event the vehicle is returned with excessive dirt (e.g., stains, sand/mud in the interior, pet hair, strong smoke odor), the Lessor reserves the right to impose an extra cleaning fee of €50 (plus VAT).
All fines and administrative penalties resulting from Traffic Law violations during the rental period are the sole responsibility of the Renter. The Lessor will charge the Renter the fine amount.
In case of accident, damage, or theft, the Renter must IMMEDIATELY: a) notify the Lessor, and b) call the Police/Traffic Police (tel. 100) to officially record the incident and obtain a Police Report. Failure to follow this procedure invalidates the insurance coverage.
For the resolution of any dispute arising from this Rental Agreement, the Courts of Heraklion, Crete, Greece, are designated as exclusively competent.
In case of damage caused to the vehicle which IS NOT covered by the insurance policy (see paragraph 3.4) and should the Renter refuse to pay the cost of repair/restoration of the damages, the Lessor expressly reserves the right to file a Civil Lawsuit for the claim of the owed amount and Criminal Prosecution for embezzlement and illegal appropriation of foreign property (the vehicle).
The Lessor reserves the right to immediately and without prior notice terminate the rental agreement and repossess the vehicle, without any refund or compensation to the Renter, if: a) The vehicle is observed being driven by a person who is NOT listed as a Renter or Authorized Driver in the Rental Agreement. b) The Renter or Authorized Driver is observed driving the vehicle recklessly, performing dangerous maneuvers, or significantly violating the Greek Traffic Laws (K.O.K.).
