Crete's roads climb and twist from the moment you leave the airport. If you drive an automatic at home, drive one here too β these are our automatic cars, with today's prices.
The coastal roads are a near-constant run of hairpins, and the climbs inland β up to the Lasithi plateau or the mountain villages β are steep and long. A hill start on a narrow village street, with a car behind you, is one thing less to think about in an automatic. In Heraklion's traffic it spares your left leg as well.
Often a little, because automatic cars cost more to buy. The list above shows each car's daily price from today's rates, and the booking form shows the exact total for your dates before you enter any personal details.
Yes. A licence for manual cars covers automatics too. The restriction only works the other way round: a licence obtained on an automatic (code 78 on an EU licence) allows automatic cars only.
For two people and the coast, a small automatic is the easiest to park in the villages. For four adults with luggage, or a lot of mountain driving, choose a larger one with a bigger engine.
Yes. Every car, automatic or manual, is delivered free to Heraklion Airport and Heraklion Port; flights landing between 21:00 and 06:00 carry a small out-of-hours fee, shown before you book.
